mPlexus is set to launch its image sharing and retrieval at the Radiological Society of North America(RSNA)convention,which is being held at Chicago,US.

The DICOM RadiX solution has the ability to retrieve relevant images from the company's PACS solution or medical imaging archives and share between facilities,even which are part of disparate healthcare systems.

Combined with the full functionality of the the company's DICOM RPE,the solution will also be useful in medical facilities needing vendor neutral and cloud archiving.

In addition,the solution manages transfers of imaging studies securely,regardless of geographic distance or the handling capability of receiving machines,claims the company.

mPlexus president Steven Jones said many patients undergo repeat imaging studies because prior studies did not provide captured images immediately for review.

"In addition to the cost and unnecessary radiation exposure,the implications for the patient's quality of care cannot be overstated,"Jones added.

"RadiX saves time,money and potentially even lives."

RadiX can also help facilities to meet upcoming Stage 3 meaningful use criteria which are likely to include image sharing.
